Irina Wen, PhD, is a clinical psychologist and psychotherapist with a heartfelt passion for helping people build stronger, more secure connections—with themselves, their loved ones, and their communities. Her work is rooted in attachment theory and a trauma-informed approach, creating a safe and supportive space for healing and growth. A certified Emotionally Focused Couple’s Therapy (EFT) therapist and supervisor, Irina serves as the Executive Director of NYCEFT (www.nyceft.org) and is deeply committed to helping couples foster lasting closeness and understanding. She is the founder of Touchstone Psychology, PLLC, a group practice dedicated to providing personalized care for couples, families, and individuals.
Irina also loves mentoring and guiding the next generation of mental health professionals, offering teaching, supervision, and consultation. As a clinical associate professor at NYU Langone Health, she was honored to help establish the Steven A. Cohen Military Family Center, creating impactful resources for military families. Irina brings warmth, expertise, and dedication to every aspect of her work, empowering her clients and colleagues to thrive.
In this presentation, we will review the foundational principles of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), an attachment-based model developed by Dr. Susan Johnson. We will discuss how EFT can be applied in working with couples, individuals, and families. Together, we will explore the EFT process, steps, and stages, review essential interventions, and discuss ways to integrate this model effectively into practice.
