Biography:
Mary-Anne Kowol MD, FASAM is an assistant professor at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) and serves as their addiction psychiatry fellowship program director. Dr. Kowol went to medical school in Wuerzburg, Germany, and attended both the psychiatry residency and addiction psychiatry fellowship at MCW. She worked in Oklahoma in a private outpatient setting before returning to MCW in 2016. Dr. Kowol presently splits her clinical work between the Zablocki VA and an MCW affiliated outpatient clinic. Her passion is to improve access and decrease stigma for patients with substance use disorders and other mental health diagnoses by increasing the visibility of addiction care in those different clinic systems.
In her spare time she enjoys nature walks and hikes, German home cooking, and classical music.
