This program is curated for professionals in Addiction Psychiatry. Participants will explore advanced techniques in patient management from clinical experts that can be readily applied to real world clinical settings.

These live webinars, developed by the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry (AAAP) in collaboration with Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) and  NYU School of Medicine, are a great way to interact with top faculty in Addiction Psychiatry and keep up to date with best practices in patient management.

Course directors for this program are Christopher Blazes, M.D., Associate Professor of Psychiatry at OHSU, and David Stiffler, M.D., Associate Professor of Psychiatry at NYU.

Course Directors
  • Christopher Blazes, M.D.; Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, Oregon Health and Science University. Dr. Blazes is triple board-certified in psychiatry, addiction psychiatry, and emergency medicine and is the director of the OHSU addiction psychiatry Fellowship. He is a clinician educator whose practice is based out of the Portland VA Medical Center. He lectures widely and publishes on such topics as benzodiazepines, synthetic fentanyl analogues, buprenorphine, and the neurobiology of addiction and recovery. He is currently the principal investigator for a trial studying buprenorphine inductions on patients using fentanyl. He also recently published an article in JAMA Psychiatry describing a new clinical entity, Complex Persistent Benzodiazepine Dependence as well as an article “Reconsidering the usefulness of adding naloxone to buprenorphine”.

  • Jon (David) Stiffler, M.D.; Associate Professor of Psychiatry at NYU. Dr. Stiffler graduated with a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry and molecular biology from The Pennsylvania State University and received his M.D. from The Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine in 2010. After completing residency training at New York University where he was chief resident, he went on to complete a fellowship in Addiction Psychiatry at New York University. Dr. Stiffler is currently a Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry and the Associate Program Director of the Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship Training Program in The University of California, San Diego Department of Psychiatry. He remains an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the New York University Department of Psychiatry.  He is board certified in General Psychiatry and Addiction Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
