Pdf Summary
This study aimed to examine the association between marijuana use and the use of hallucinogens in American adolescents. The researchers analyzed data from the CDC's youth risk behavior surveillance system in 2019. Three groups of marijuana users were identified based on intensity of use: experimental users (0-9 times), moderate users (10-99 times), and heavy users (100 or more times). Statistical analysis showed that the prevalence of lifetime hallucinogen use was significantly higher in the heavy use group, followed by the moderate use group and the experimental use group. Regression analysis also revealed that an increase in marijuana use intensity was associated with a similar increase in odds of using hallucinogen drugs.

The significance of this study lies in its exploration of the link between marijuana use and the use of hallucinogens, an area that has not been previously explored. The findings contribute to a better understanding of the effects of marijuana on various health risk behaviors, which may be directly or indirectly influenced by increased odds of using other substances such as hallucinogens.

Overall, this research highlights the potential impact of marijuana use on the likelihood of using hallucinogens in American adolescents.
